WTB: infrared camera
After playing with uncle Randy's converted Canon 10D again, I'd like to get one of my own. I have a 10D which could be converted, but it lacks Live View and that's a very handy feature for an IR body. Regular light meter tends to be imprecise and pre-visualizing through an optical viewfinder can be pretty difficult, too.
Does anyone know of an IR camera for sale? I would prefer a DSLR type, as I already tried the P&S Fuji and was disappointed in it. The idea of buying a Canon 40D and sending to Livepixel for conversion seems too indirect and a bit expensive. Worst case, I will convert my 10D and take test shots for metering, but I'd rather find a newer body already fixed up for IR.

Slow motion recording with prosumer equipment?
Other than the low-resolution Casio cameras with their wretched interfaces, what is available for slow-motion video recording? I am looking for 720P or better with at least 240fps, preferably 300fps.

Leather of my friends
Convertible belt slide/IWB holster for P7 designed by my friend Bob. Produced for him by KD Holsters.
The top photo was made with Canon 5D2 and Sigma 50mm macro lens. The middle photo, with Panasonic LX3. Both were taken in meager available light. The images quality of the smaller camera isn't nearly as inferior to the DSLR results as I would have expected. I find that using LX3 with its great macro capabilities and generally well considered controls is a real pleasure.

EPA wants lead ammo banned.
Lead is the most common material for small arms ammunition. The second most common is mild steel. By some strange coincidence, steel core ammunition is also effectively banned except for shotgun pellets. Now EPA would like to get rid of lead bullets.
That leaves either ineffective lighter metals or extremely expensive heavier metals (which would also be prohibited for use in any pistol caliber and most rifle calibers). Almost seems like EPA and ATF are teaming up to make ammo prohibitively expensive or unobtainable.
ATF and EPA officials are appointed, not elected. Their political patrons may pay an electoral price but the actual perpetrators would not. When political response to malfeasance is unavailable, people usually resort to direct action.
