Why such emphasis on low recoil?

A lot of the shooters I deal with are slightly built, young and relatively inexperienced with firearms. When they go beyond .22, it helps to teach them on relatively quiet and low-kick guns. That’s where the 380ACP carbine comes in handy, likewise Aguila Mini Shells. More than .22, they would also serve the secondary role of being useful defensive tools in case of need.

Range learning goes a lot better, with less flinching, if the student doesn’t end up with bruises. Full-power ammunition can be used once techniques have been honed on lighter loads.

Currently, I am using “Gallery 2”, old unsupported software. I’d like to migrate to something newer, ideally while retaining the old gallery to keep all the links from my blog correct. Any recommendations?

I’d like a show of hands:

  • Who would prefer NSFW images and texts here, mixed with politics, firearms and other topics?
  • Who would prefer I start a separate blog where things you can’t unsee would show up?

FB claims they blocked me for 24 hours for posting something with nudity. My guess they couldn’t deal with this. That definitely confirms the need to post most of my work on a server I control and only use FB as an incidental distribution channel.

Incidentally, FB also disabled my ability to respond to private messages. That’s definitely a malicious move, and one that makes the need to find a better social media venue more pressing. WeWe didn’t impress me with their attempts at functionality, nor has G+…

On reflection, I decided to separate firearms and politics from other parts of my site. I just need to remember how to set up another WordPress blog on the same server but with a different identity…

The first approach looks like this: light tapering 1:8 twist barrel, muzzle brake and charging handle by Strike Industries, ambi safety by them also. Mission First Tactical grip and stock, carbon fiber forend by Brigand Arms. Improved trigger. Lancer magazine. Lasermax micro laser as backup sighting option. Trijicon mini ACOG 3×24. Magnesium lower courtesy of Fostech, same as on their upcoming ultralight carbine. The combined result is light, handy, and should be fairly accurate. Overall design and awesome Cerakote job by Fighting Sheepdog of Knoxville, TN.

I am getting frustrated by that camera. It mounts good quality lenses and, once fixed by Canon, it produces amazing image quality but the user interface is confusing — the worst I’ve seen in a while — and the instruction manual is not very helpful. Such simple task as understanding and switching AF point selection is requires extensive trial and error, as is much of the AF system fine-tuning. While I am stuck with stupid, mostly un-programmable interface, at least I’d like to be able to configure it to my liking. Any suggestions on sources of info about it?

I’ve been trying to get  ahold of Mark or Gary from M.A.D., but nobody picks up either land line or cell phone, or responds to email. Their contact form errors out. If anyone is in touch with them, please ask them to connect back to me.

The father is John Young of Fighting Sheepdog. His daughter gets to be trained by a USMC graduate. The pistol is a S&W Liberty .22, a very modular design. The little loop on the back is “halo” made by Tandemkross— it prevents pinched fingers that seem to go with this pistol otherwise. The mag loader John is wearing on a lanyard is optional for Liberty magazines but really, really helps with Ruger 2245 and MkIII mags. While I don’t see a muzzle brake as a need for .22 pistols, their prevalence at shooting competitions suggests that they do work well.
