Why do some US politicians hate freedom even more than Chinese commies do?

If gold standard was reintroduced, how much of the currently available metal would have to be devoted to making currency instead of industrial or decorative uses? What would it do to the price of the metal? How would fractional payments we set up, in copper and silver or fiat coinage made of something less costly?

AAC MPW 300BLK rifle with 2.5-10x Vortex scope. The shooter is one of OATH Ammunition employees.
Ammunition: OATH subsonic 300BLK in aluminum case, supersonic in brass case. Projectiles in both are precision-machined copper. I’ve been playing a lot with machined bullets recently: you can tell the uniformity of the shape even by how little retouching is needed in the macro photos.
My test group. I am not the best shot with rifle, so these results at 25 yards with subsonics aren’t showing the full capability of the weapon. The point of aim was the numeral 6, but the scope wasn’t zeroed for me or for this round. Correct point of impact for 25 should have been an inch left and an inch down or so.
So, the small detail I found relevant is the parallax adjustment on the scope. Most 2.5-10x scopes are set for 100 yards and look a bit fuzzy at 25. This one gave a sharp image and the reticle didn’t shift relative to the target when my eye did.

Does anyone near my location have access to a shootable Werndl rifle? I’d like to do photos and a short article about it.

Shooting film is a lot like shooting a flintlock: slow, inefficient and best left to those who enjoy the process more than they value the results.
Even if used with modern film, these cameras provide no instant feedback and no easy image backup capability. Scratching the film is entirely too easy.
This particular camera was fairly advanced for the time, offering flash synchronization, auto and manual exposure options. With the availability of modern cameras, my personal interest in using film dropped to zero, even though those cameras still make cool photo props. But some of my friends still enjoy putting them to real use.

After Michelle’s article, I wanted to make my own decision regarding this design. Had a chance to shoot it at the range today.
I have no idea what that gun does that a Sig P238 with laser grips wouldn’t do far better. Or, for the same price as Curve, what Ruger LCP or Keltec P3At wouldn’t do for with less bulk and far better ergonomics. Or, if we go with Taurus offerings, PT738.

I’ve followed the development of this mess for a couple of years now. A former competitive air gun shooter, Stacey modeled for several of my RKBA posters, and I got to hear a bit about her situation. My advice was “get out now!” but the reality proved more difficult. Now we can all help. If you can spare just the price of a box of pistol ammo, it would be a help. Stacey is doing her best to get out of this situation without orphaning her own kids.

Wondering around the NRA show and socializing with my friends and colleagues reminded me again just how varied and friendly the American shooters are. A monoculture may have the perceived advantage of default cohesiveness, but conformity usually is enforced subtly yet strongly behind the scenes. In my world, conformity isn’t a virtue. The premium is placed on treating others with consideration and respect, and on being supportive of those who aren’t welcomed by the mainstream. A clear example was the enthusiastic welcome received by Pink Pistols members at shooting events nationwide compared to the lukewarm or even hostile reception at Pride events in states like California.
Be friendly and be safe. Creed, ethnicity, sex, age, martial status, other traits besides those that violate the “safe and friendly” requirements, are of no consequence at the range. We welcome one and all.

Are there any down sides — practical or ethical — for imposing greater punishments for misdeeds committed under the color of authority? For example, should rape while in police uniform carry a higher sentence than the same done by a private actor? The logic is that a regular rape or home invasion or theft would be resisted without fear of official retribution. The same would apply to crimes committed while impersonating cops or other officials — such as in case of home invasion.

Imagine an observer with a stereoscopic rangefinder and a telephone, camouflaged on a seashore. The observer is 3km ahead of a cannon located further inland for concealment. The bearing is between the cannon and the observer is, for the purposes of communication ease, zero.
Now, for the math and geometry questions:
1. The observer sees a ship that is 5km away at bearing 30 by the rangefinder and compass. Assuming the ship is neither head-on nor in profile, how can the observer calculate speed and the direction of travel of the ship from observation? Assume no readily visible landmarks behind the ship.
2. Let’s say that the ship is at this moment 5km away at bearing 30 as observed from the forward post. What are the distance and the bearing at this moment from the battery which is 3km behind the observer?
3. Let’s say that the ship’s direction of travel is 135 degrees from the zero reference bearing (going over the observer’s right shoulder) and the speed is 20 knots (approx. 36km/h). If it took the cannon crew fifty seconds to calculate the firing solution, and the shell flight time is ten seconds, at which point relative to the cannon (distance and bearing) should the gun be aimed?
4. Assuming the ship is 100m long and the combined side and deck projection at the 30 degree angle of the shell impact is 25m, what is the probability of a first-round hit from the cannon with 1 minute of angle dispersion?
Having performed these calculations, meditate on the addition of gun platform movement to simulate ship to ship combat. Increase range to 10km. Increase dispersion over time as the barrels heat up. I am beginning to understand why ballistic computers and firing synchronizes (for shooting all guns at a consistent point in time during the wave roll) were such a big deal. And why trained specialist meant victory in artillery exchanges on land and sea.
Maybe this is more like 7th grade, which would not have been beyond the 1930s students who spent more time on the basics.

Cheyenne Dalton is 14. How fast can she ran the updated Auto 5 shotgun and still hit clays?
Good thing Crazy Quail launcher kept up…

I met Cobalt Kinetics crew at SHOT Show, and did a shoot with them right before the NRA Show in Nashville.
Using a linear compensator on a 14.5″ carbine was my idea and it worked out very well for comfort.
As you can see, accurate rapid fire is possible even without a concussive muzzle brake.
A more conventional offering with a brake. It made my hair move five yards from the shooter, but it also cut recoil from minimal to almost none.
I like working with Army and USMC veterans. They evidence a good shooting form, and can hold the poses almost forever.
Cobalt’s exclusive feature: ambidextrous bolt release. It’s much faster to use than the left-side paddle on the rifle, and doesn’t require moving either hand from the firing position.
